According to WABetainfo, a website that gives updates about new features of WhatsApp, the name of this feature of WhatsApp is Pin Channels. The company has introduced this feature in Android beta version. This means that currently this feature is in testing mode, and soon it will be rolled out for general users of Android devices.
Will be able to pin the channel also
A screenshot is also visible in this report, which shows how users will be able to pin their favorite WhatsApp channel. Users will see the list of channels after clicking on updates. If you pin your favorite channel, updates of that channel will always be visible at the top.
Let us tell you that this feature will work exactly the same way as it is used to pin messages of any user or group in the WhatsApp chat box. Now apart from WhatsApp contacts and WhatsApp groups, you will also be able to pin WhatsApp channels.
